The Approach

I work with individuals and organisations where security matters, but the situation does not fit neatly into policies, templates, or compliance frameworks — or where those structures do not yet exist.

Engagements often begin with a sense of unease about existing arrangements — not necessarily because something has formally “failed”, but because confidence is low, responsibility feels unclear, or decisions carry personal or reputational weight.

My role is to understand the reality on the ground: the people involved, the environment, the systems in place, and how they actually function day to day. From there, I help clients reach proportionate, workable security decisions that hold up in practice — not just on paper.

This is not a box-ticking or compliance exercise. While formal audits can be undertaken when required, the focus here is practical effectiveness and proportion.

Where appropriate, this may include examining how teams would actually respond to incidents in practice, through discussion, table-top scenarios, walkthroughs, or live-environment scenarios, as written procedures often fail when subjected to real operational pressure.

My background spans more than 30 years in counter-terrorism protective security, executive protection, and incident response. I have held strategic, tactical, and operational responsibility, developing and leading specialist teams, supporting individuals and organisations operating in complex and sensitive environments, including those where evolving requirements such as the Protect Duty (Martyn’s Law) are becoming relevant.

Alongside operational leadership, I have extensive experience overseeing the design and delivery of physical and electronic security systems, working at the interface between clients, technical providers, and operational teams to ensure that people, systems, and procedures align and function effectively in practice.

I have also developed and delivered specialist training and capability development for protective security teams, with an emphasis on practical judgement, real-world application, and operational readiness rather than theory.

Where additional specialist expertise is required, I draw it in selectively, retaining clear oversight and accountability throughout. My role remains independent; I do not sell security systems or installations.
